Say 👋 to Annika Greenawalt, our dynamic Design Intern, bringing her unique talents and fresh viewpoint to Truly Creative!

Annika is a recent graduate from Sonoma State University and College of Marin. She has a degree in Business Marketing and a certificate in Multimedia Studies, Graphic Design. To learn more about her journey and experience, we asked Annika a few questions…

🅠 Why did you choose Truly Creative for your internship and how do you like the experience so far?

I chose Truly Creative for my internship because I have always been such an involved consumer, always noticing new packaging on the shelves and appreciating how businesses are constantly coming up with new strategies to increase sales. I am particularly enjoying package design and branding because it combines my two passions; marketing and graphic design, and I have learned more about how it really takes both to get to the final product.

🅠 What surprised you about our studio and the work we do?

Everyone in the office is so wonderful and has been so helpful in guiding me through every assignment. I was surprised by how much goes into package design and how many steps there are to get to the final product. Everyone here is so thorough and completes every job with so much attention to detail and care.

🅠 What’s been the highlight of your internship so far?

The highlight of working here has been just how welcoming and helpful everyone has been. I have loved every aspect of the internship from detailed Photoshop editing, to updating the website, and setting up photo shoots.

🅠 What are 3 things that might surprise people about you?

I was a vegetarian for 8 years starting at age 7.
I collect rare plants and own over 30 plant varieties.
I donate white blood cells to science.

🅠 What do you like to do outside of work?

When I’m not working I enjoy cooking, spending time outdoors with family and friends, and taking care of my many houseplants.

Time flies—this year, we had the privilege of celebrating 10 years with Emma! Of course we have to share some throwbacks 📸 and surprising facts about her (read to the end for 3 surprises!). Now a Senior Designer, Emma started at Truly Creative as an intern while earning her BFA in Graphic Design at Cal Poly. After graduating with honors in 2013, she officially joined the team. When she’s not helping to make our clients' dreams a reality, you’ll likely find Emma knitting, reading, or hiking.

3 things about Emma that may surprise you:
🇬🇧She was born in England
🏒She played ice hockey growing up
✍️She wrote two novels over the pandemic
We’re honored to have worked on the redesign for @jovialfoods, a winner of this year’s @designalytics Effectiveness Awards. 🏆 🎉

These aren’t typical design awards—winner selection is entirely driven by data, including in-market sales performance and quantitative consumer testing. In other words, this award celebrates designs that not only look good, but actually help drive brand growth.

So excited to finally be able to share this news. Thanks to Jovial Foods, Inc. for the wonderful partnership!
